Chapter 816. Hidden Agenda
Chapter 816. Hidden Agenda
Kailen locked gazes with the bison looking creatures.
The creatures waved their paws at the same time.
Torrents of wind blew everywhere and transformed into several colossal wind orbs.
The wind orbs rotated on the paws of the five creatures. The creatures waved their paws again. The wind orbs were released from their paws. The wind orbs swept through several celestial bodies and reduced them to dust. They were overbearing, cleaving through everything with sheer might.
Kailen waved his right hand. The void twisted. Tendrils of space coiled into a spatial katana. Kailen grabbed the ethereal spatial katana.
His abyss-like eyes were calm, dark hair billowing in the wind. His back straight as a pine tree, long coat fluttering. He took a step forward, spatial principle katana in his right hand, appearing right before the colossal wind orbs.
The katana came down.
The sight was very uncanny. It was as if Kailen never moved. The outcome proved otherwise.
One slash.
The five colossal wind orbs bended and twisted, space rippling across them.
Then, they disappeared.
Kailen took another step forward.
He disappeared and appeared close to the five creatures.
Glints of intelligence flashed through their eyes.
This tiny creature was too powerful.
They let out terrifying roars. The wind blew across the place and transformed into large wind arrows. The large wind arrows shot towards Kailen with overbearing might, sweeping through everything.
Kailen was calm.
He flickered in and out of existence with each step, evading the wind arrows with the precision of someone who had uncanny authority over the void.
The audience were awed.
Kailen Darkhaven was simply too terrifying.
Kailen appeared before the five creatures.
He swung the spatial katana down with his right hand, left hand behind his back.
The single strike seemed very profound.
It peered through the void with each distance it crossed, meeting the bodies of the five creatures, the void twisting through and across their beings.
The creatures let out wails of death and misery and their eyes grew dim and lifeless.
Their heads were hollowed from the rest of their bodies. Blood splurged from their headless bodies. Their heads and bodies floated across the void, blood floating across the starry sea, a testament to the fact that they were really dead.
The spatial katana in Kailen’s hand dissolved into the void.
Wind Principle fragments floated on their bodies after they died.
One strike.
One fucking strike.
How terrifying was this fellow’s principle comprehension speed?
With just one strike with his normal sized spatial principle katana, he had managed to slay five creatures at the same time, each as large as one light year. The level of spatial manipulation involved in this was something many could not even dare to wrap their heads around.
Most importantly, he did it so effortlessly.
As for Kailen, he did not know what the audience were thinking.
He found a moon floating near one of the dead bodies of the bison looking creatures and sat on it.
"I should be able to observe some places I could not observe earlier from here." Kailen used the principle of space to scan the place. He was able to scan new places he could not scan previously because he was now closer to these places.
"Interesting." A glint of coldness flashed through Kailen’s eyes.
"Looks like there’s no need to go around looking for him."
Kailen saw someone being shredded apart by several mysterious storms.
A smile appeared on his face as he melded with the void and appeared close to where the person was being ravaged by the mysterious storm.
Several watching the stream thought that since Kailen Darkhaven and Teiken were from the academic faction of the Venzula Empire Academy, he would try to figure out a way to save Teiken.
"Kailen... thank goodness... please... help... arrrghhhh!" Teiken screamed in pain as he stared at Kailen.
An expression of shock appeared on his face.
Kailen Darkhaven was smiling and waving his hand at him?
"Too bad for the royal family, I suppose they will have to kill your friend they’ve been holding hostage, the tenth ranked on the royal fate rankings, now that fulfilling your end of the deal is impossible." Kailen shook his head.
The audience was surprised.
What was going on?
Was Kailen enjoying the fellow’s demise?
"How did you..." Teiken said with shock.
"Oh yeah... about that... try to find out in the afterlife. I hope the royal family is watching."
Kailen Darkhaven disappeared from the place as soon as he finished speaking.
The audience from the Venzula Empire observed in stunned silence as Teiken was shredded into particles by the mysterious storm, his dying screams echoing across the place.
So... the royal family hired Teiken to kill Kailen Darkhaven errr...
Kailen Darkhaven knew all along.
He had probably made plans to kill this Teiken fellow. But instead, Teiken was killed by a natural hazard of the Meridian Belt.
Kailen Darkhaven did not want him to just die like that.
He wanted to deal a psychological blow to Teiken. So he came here to taunt Teiken even as he was dying.
Through his words, he also revealed that the royal family had kidnapped one of their very own, someone ranked tenth on the Royal family fate rankings, a friend of Teiken and used him as hostage to manipulate Teiken to kill Kailen Darkhaven.
Teiken’s response to what Kailen Darkhaven said confirmed that this was true.
Many started to view the royal family in a bad light. It was one thing to scheme against your enemies. But to use someone on your side to try to trick an enemy to do your bidding... That was way too nasty.
Kailen Darkhaven’s words had just ruined their opinion of the royal family.
A number among the powers in the Venzula Empire Capital that had previously made plans to ally with them during the war between the academy and the royal family, were now hesitant.
"What would happen to us at the end of the war even if the royal family were to win? Will they throw us under the rug like disposable pawns just like they kept someone of their faction hostage without considering their loyalty?" they thought.
These ones made plans to ally with the academy rather. At least, the academy would treat them well after the war in case they won.
It was a risk worth taking.
Some however, naturally remained unwavering in their stance. They still planned to ally themselves with the royal family. They didn’t see the royal family’s methods as despicable. Sometimes sacrifices had to be made. Also, they knew their position and value. The royal family won’t try to get rid of them after the war. They were too valuable.
Kailen smiled, returning to where he was sitting on the moon.
"With the spectacle I pulled, a couple of the powers considering taking the side of the royal family in the upcoming war will shift to the academy’s side," Kailen thought.
****
In the StayNight Hotel and Estates, vice principal Morgana was chuckling at the moment.
A glint flashed through her eyes.
As an extremely adept schemer herself, she figured out why Kailen pulled off the spectacle he pulled, instead of leaving Teiken to just die like that.
"Mr Darkhaven is really terrifying." She had to admit that Kailen Darkhaven was on another level when it came to scheming and navigating psychological battlefields. Even she was not sure she could outmaneuver him had they been on opposing sides.
"Indeed he is." Several professors, Austere included, nodded. The moment the vice principal spoke, their attention was drawn to the hidden reason behind Kailen’s actions just now.
The Engineer indeed.
