Chapter 44: First Horseback Riding
Chapter 44: First Horseback Riding
When Jia Daishan and Jia Daihua went to court and returned, they saw three little boys sitting in a row by the drill ground watching the little white horse circle around.
Jia Daihua waved his hand to silence the maids and servants, then quietly walked behind the three of them and picked one up in each hand. Jia Hu was startled; how did the two little ones beside him suddenly fly up!
Jia Hu jumped up from the stool in fright, only to hear Jia Zhu and Jia Zhen exclaim in surprise and then burst into laughter.
Jia Zhu and Jia Zhen screamed and turned around, then immediately burst into excited laughter. After being put down, they seemed to have found something fun and begged to fly again.
Jia Daihua picked them up one by one like chicks and swung them around. When it was Jia Hu's turn, Jia Hu proudly puffed out his little chest. He was now solid. Jia Daihua laughed at his smug little expression and, to Jia Hu's surprise, picked him up with one hand and swung him around.
To Jia Hu's surprise, he joined Jia Zhu and the others in shouting, "General! General!"
The three children's faces were flushed with excitement.
Seeing that they were so excited and wanted to go for another turn, Jia Daishan stepped forward and said, "You said you were coming to see Xiao Ma after you finished eating, why are you still here now?"
Even if her elder brother was brave, he was still an old man, and she couldn't let these little monkeys cause trouble.
Jia Zhu replied excitedly, "Grandfather, Brother Hu's little white horse is so beautiful."
Jia Zhen nodded frantically to the side.
Jia Daihua smiled smugly, "This is one I carefully selected. It's docile now that it's young, but it has warhorse blood and can go to the battlefield when it grows up."
The three little devils are all over here! Now Jia Zhu and Jia Zhen couldn't resist anymore, and each of them went up and grabbed one of Jia Daihua's legs to express that they wanted one too.
Jia Daihua laughed and said, "Then you should listen to me and go to school. When you grow up, I will give each of you a horse."
Jia Zhen rolled his eyes, tilted his head back, and said:
“Grandfather, I’ve grown up now, you can see for yourself.”
As she spoke, she moved her arms and stretched her legs. Jiazhu, over there, imitated her, jumping up and down and saying, "I'm all grown up! I'm all grown up! I can have a pony now!"
The crowd was shaking so badly that Jia Daihua quickly pressed down on the two increasingly mischievous little boys.
It's often said that children can't read between the lines, but that's not true. Children are very sensitive to people's attitudes. Although they're pampered at home, they don't dare to be disrespectful in front of their elders and are always very cautious. But lately, sensing the change in the atmosphere at home and the increased care from their elders, they've all become bolder.
Jia Daihua laughed and said:
"Even if I give you ponies, your older brother Hu can't ride them. You're too young to ride them, so you can only look at them and see what's the point. I'll give you ponies when you can ride horses."
After speaking, he looked at the three children with expectant eyes. Even the iron-blooded general who had slain countless enemies on the battlefield couldn't resist the charm of the adorable children's starry eyes.
Jia Daihua ordered the guards to bring the two men's horses over.
Two horses came along, and the three naive kids, who had never seen anything like it before, exclaimed in unison, "Wow! They're so tall and big!"
Two tall, handsome horses with well-defined muscles.
The three men were about to rush forward to touch it when Jia Daishan quickly stopped them, saying:
"No, be careful not to hurt yourself. These two horses are battle-hardened and have a fierce temperament. You can't get too close."
The three were extremely disappointed. Jia Daihua said:
"Does anyone want to ride a horse?"
The three immediately raised their hands eagerly, jumping up and down to indicate that they wanted to ride. Jia Daihua said, "Let's line up from the oldest to the youngest. Your grandfather and I can each take one and ride around in turns."
The three of them were overjoyed and showered each other with sweet words! They managed to coax Jia Daishan and Jia Daihua so much that they couldn't stop talking.
Jia Hu's eyes sparkled. "My horse is so cool!" he exclaimed. "It's a horse! What boy hasn't dreamed of being a martial arts hero when he was little?" Jia Hu had thought he'd have to wait a long time to ride a horse, but now his wish was finally coming true. Even though he was being led around, it was still riding! Finally, he could experience the feeling of a chivalrous hero galloping at lightning speed!
Jia Daihua clearly intended to mount his horse first and then have someone else lift Jia Hu onto it. However, wanting to show off in front of his grandsons, he simply lifted Jia Hu onto the horse with one hand after mounting himself, causing Jia Hu to shout excitedly. After confirming that Jia Hu was seated properly, Jia Daihua laughed heartily, gave a whistle, and the horse, accompanied by Jia Hu's cheers, galloped forward like the wind.
After instructing his servants to keep an eye on Jia Zhu, Jia Daishan mounted his horse and took Jia Zhen with him.
As soon as Jia Zhen mounted his horse, he raised his hands and shouted excitedly.
After walking around for a while, Jia Daihua put down Jia Hu, whose little face was flushed with excitement, and said:
"As expected of the Jia family's sons, they are indeed very bold."
Then he picked up Jia Zhu and ran around again.
Jia Hu was overjoyed by the joy of riding a horse. His eyes sparkled as he looked at his little white horse and decided to name it Swift Wind. He reached out and touched it, saying:
"Swift Wind, we all need to grow up quickly!"
Finally, the three of them pestered Jia Daishan and Jia Daihua to go for a few more rides. Jia Daishan, worried that the children might not be used to riding horses for the first time and had let them whine, refused to allow it anymore. He only said that when they were older, he would arrange riding and archery lessons for them, and that they were not allowed to cry when they felt tired.
Lunch was eaten together at Grandmother Jia's place. The three children were extremely excited, waving their arms and legs and showing Grandmother Jia how they rode horses.
The people inside the room were thoroughly exasperated by their short arms and legs and their exaggerated gestures.
Seeing their excited expressions, Grandmother Jia jokingly said:
"Your elders all studied, so does that mean you younger generation all want to become great generals? If so, then we're back to the Jia family's tradition."
Jia Zhu and Jia Zhen stomped their feet excitedly and said:
"To be a great general! I want to be a great general!"
Their adorable appearance brought immense joy to everyone in the room. Grandmother Jia hugged them tightly, saying with tender affection, "My precious darlings..."
"Good, good, good, our Zhen'er and Zhu'er are the great generals!"
