Chapter 482: New Classmate
Chapter 482: New Classmate
When Zhou Yuwen leaned in, Lu Wanting was indeed a little nervous. It wasn't just psychologically; perhaps because she hadn't touched men in over twenty years, her body was equally tense. Her long legs, clad in jeans, couldn't help but squeeze together slightly. Although Zhou Yuwen hadn't kissed her yet, one of his large hands had already rested familiarly on Lu Wanting's thighs.
However, Lu Wanting looked genuinely alluring at this moment. Even though her legs were covered, her upper shirt was unbuttoned, revealing a small white camisole beneath that stretched tightly across her full chest.
Both of them were letting the heat of the moment get to their heads. Lu Wanting's hands even instinctively clutched her clothing corner. As for Zhou Yuwen himself, putting aside his immense wealth, he possessed a uniquely magnetic personality. At the very least, his talent was obvious to everyone, and paired with his striking looks, most girls would find him impossible to refuse.
Even knowing that Zhou Yuwen already had a good woman, Lu Wanting's throat felt dry. As he closed the distance between them, her slightly parted lips betrayed a subtle sense of expectation.
Unfortunately, a sudden ringtone instantly snapped the two of them out of their daze. Lu Wanting glanced at her phone, and at the same time, Zhou Yuwen clearly saw the caller ID on the screen. It was Peng Xiaoyong.
Although Lu Wanting chose to hang up immediately, the romantic mood had already vanished without a trace.
By the time Lu Wanting looked up at Zhou Yuwen again, he was sitting up straight and adjusting his clothes. He then stated flatly, "It's getting late, and you must be tired."
Lu Wanting felt disappointed, but she ultimately gave a quiet hum of agreement.
Nothing else happened between them that night. A thick awkwardness lingered in the air. While taking the elevator up, they barely spoke, though Zhou Yuwen chuckled to himself and muttered a couple of times about how strange the situation had been, brushing it off as if he had already forgotten it.
"After all, you're the woman my cousin is pursuing."
Zhou Yuwen joked bluntly.
Lu Wanting gave a forced smile but said nothing.
After stepping out of the elevator, they each returned to their respective rooms.
Closing the door behind her, Lu Wanting sprawled out on the bed. Recalling the ambiguity in the sports car just moments ago, her face still flushed, but she was also filled with a twinge of regret.
People were like that. In critical moments, they were controlled by pure instinct and found it impossible to resist. But once the heat passed, the consequences had to be faced.
Zhou Yuwen already had six women.
'If I really slept with him...'
'Is that truly what I want?'
Staring at the ceiling, Lu Wanting couldn't help but interrogate her own heart.
Right at that moment, her phone rang again.
It was Peng Xiaoyong calling once more.
Lu Wanting briefly composed herself and connected the call. "Hello?"
"Hey, were you busy just now? Why didn't the call connect?"
"Oh, I was out. Yuwen and Su Qing just arrived today, so I went to the airport to pick them up." Lu Wanting felt a pang of guilt as she answered Peng Xiaoyong's question.
Peng Xiaoyong sounded surprised. "Yuwen is in New York too?"
"Yeah, he accompanied Su Qing here. He probably didn't feel at ease letting her travel alone," Lu Wanting said lightly.
Peng Xiaoyong fell silent for a moment before finally letting out an oh and adding, "I don't even know which one is his actual girlfriend anymore."
Hearing this, Lu Wanting chuckled. "He has money. It's always like this."
"Well, since he's there, make sure to take them out and show them a good time."
"Okay."
Once they exhausted that topic, the conversation ran dry. Peng Xiaoyong went quiet again before asking, "When are you coming back?"
Speaking of coming back, Lu Wanting grew a bit evasive. "Well, I haven't booked a flight yet," she replied.
Peng Xiaoyong urged, "Come back soon."
Lu Wanting answered, "I'll head back as soon as I finish up my business here."
"Are you back in your room now?"
"Mhm."
"I..." Peng Xiaoyong wanted to say something but hesitated, holding his words back.
"Hm?" Lu Wanting prompted, curious.
Peng Xiaoyong confessed, "I miss you a little."
Caught off guard by his words, Lu Wanting didn't know how to respond. In the end, she faked a yawn to change the subject, saying it was getting late.
"It's still daytime over there, right?"
"I'm going to sleep now."
With that, she ended the phone call.
In truth, Lu Wanting was struggling internally. She really wasn't a good woman; her affections were entirely divided.
But she couldn't help it.
People were realistic.
If Zhou Yuwen were single right now, Lu Wanting would probably choose him without hesitation and cut all ties with Peng Xiaoyong.
The problem was that Zhou Yuwen wasn't single.
Furthermore, Zhou Yuwen's attitude toward her was incredibly vague. If she chose him, Lu Wanting was destined to be the other woman, or perhaps not even that.
'What if I completely misinterpreted his intentions?'
'If I outright rejected Peng Xiaoyong, only for Zhou Yuwen to turn around and say, Sister-in-law, is there some sort of misunderstanding between us?'
Wouldn't Lu Wanting end up with absolutely nothing?
Stringing Peng Xiaoyong along was wrong of her.
But keeping Peng Xiaoyong around gave her a safety net. At the very worst, she would still be Zhou Yuwen's sister-in-law. Relying on that thin connection would afford her certain conveniences in both life and work.
If she lost that connection, however, she would truly have nothing.
Lu Wanting knew this was unfair to Peng Xiaoyong.
But there really was no other way.
Thinking back on the scene in the sports car once more, Lu Wanting didn't know what to feel. There was regret, an acute sense that she shouldn't have acted that way, but there was also disappointment—a lingering feeling that if Peng Xiaoyong hadn't called, they might have gone all the way.
Unlike Lu Wanting tossing and turning in bed, Zhou Yuwen had completely forgotten the earlier incident by the time he returned to his room. On the large, round bed, Su Qing was the only girl sleeping.
She was covered with a blanket that looked a bit too thin against the chill.
Zhou Yuwen stepped forward, embraced Su Qing, and planted a gentle kiss on her cheek.
Su Qing woke up dazed and asked him, "Why are you back so late?"
"I dropped by a luxury store and bought some gifts for you, Yan Yan, and the others," Zhou Yuwen explained.
Su Qing seemed genuinely exhausted. Bleary-eyed, she gave a light huff at his words and muttered, "You never forget Yan Yan no matter where you go."
Zhou Yuwen chuckled. "Well, I didn't forget you either." Su Qing couldn't be bothered to argue with him. After everything that had happened back in China, Su Qing had indeed matured significantly. She simply closed her eyes and, within moments, drifted back into a dream.
Zhou Yuwen was tired too. Seeing that Su Qing was ignoring him, he closed his eyes and soon fell fast asleep.
It wasn't until the sun rose the next morning that Zhou Yuwen fully regained his energy.
He found Su Qing still sleeping. She had been truly exhausted the night before; after coming back early, she had simply taken a quick shower and gone to bed wearing nothing but a camisole and a pair of panties.
Looking down at her smooth legs resting against his own, Zhou Yuwen felt a sudden surge of interest and forcibly woke Su Qing up—and it was quite an aggressive wake-up call at that.
At first, Su Qing wasn't fully awake, and everything felt like a dream. She groggily felt a slight pang of pain, but upon waking up and seeing Zhou Yuwen on top of her, her own desires were stoked. Following his lead, she wrapped herself around him and began to let out soft moans.
Meanwhile, Lu Wanting had spent a great deal of effort adjusting her mindset. Since she was accompanying Zhou Yuwen to the school today to handle enrollment procedures, she had changed into a relatively formal gray suit. With her hair cascading down her shoulders, she really gave off the vibe of a wealthy young master's female assistant.
Taking a deep breath, she resolved to forget about last night and treat Zhou Yuwen normally. However, the moment she arrived at his door, she heard distinct, breathy moans coming from inside.
At first, she didn't quite grasp what was going on, but upon listening closely, she could hear Su Qing murmuring things like, 'Faster, a little faster?'
Lu Wanting thought for a brief second, and a vivid image instantly flooded her mind.
Her face flushed crimson, and she no longer dared to knock on the door.
She initially thought about knocking later, but the scheduled time for registration was fast approaching. After a moment of hesitation, Lu Wanting finally bit the bullet and knocked on the door.
As soon as Lu Wanting knocked, the sounds inside the room stopped abruptly.
Zhou Yuwen's voice called out, "Who is it?"
Lu Wanting answered, "Yuwen, it's almost time for our appointment with the school."
The room went quiet again, save for the muffled sounds of whispering.
It was likely Su Qing checking the time, realizing they were going to be late, and starting to panic.
Zhou Yuwen, however, calmly said, "Wait a moment. Also, could you go grab the clothes I washed yesterday for me?"
"Oh, alright."
Lu Wanting went to the laundry room and brought Zhou Yuwen's clothes up. Zhou Yuwen opened the door openly and comfortably, wrapped only in a bath towel.
He then walked into the bathroom to change his clothes.
Su Qing was still in bed, her face flushed red.
After washing up, they had a quick bite to eat.
Zhou Yuwen swapped his vehicle at the hotel for a four-seater convertible sports car, driving leisurely toward Banard College. Along the way, Su Qing grumbled, muttering that it would have been better if she hadn't let Zhou Yuwen drop her off at all.
"With you tagging along, you're just delaying me." The dynamic between them felt remarkably similar to how they had been after they got married in their previous life.
Zhou Yuwen told her not to worry, assuring her they wouldn't be late.
They arrived at the school gate at around eleven in the morning.
Banard College had no perimeter walls; only a few distinct landscapes separated the school from the surrounding buildings. There were quite a few Asian faces on campus, almost all of them girls in their twenties.
Whether at overseas universities or domestic ones, students enjoyed a rich array of extracurricular activities, though foreign institutions tended to have even more organizations and gatherings.
For example, right after Zhou Yuwen parked the car, he spotted several female students handing out flyers in front of a massive banner. There were all sorts of messy organizations everywhere—women's support groups, International Student Mutual Aid Associations, and more.
Lu Wanting said she would go ahead and help Su Qing handle the enrollment procedures, asking Zhou Yuwen and Su Qing to wait outside for a moment.
During this time, a girl walked over to strike up a conversation.
"Excuse me, disturbing you for a moment. Did you just arrive from the motherland?" The girl's voice was sweet, and she carried herself with immense elegance. She had snow-white skin, a slender figure, and an innate confidence radiating from her eyes.
The two turned to look at the girl.
The girl smiled softly.
Zhou Yuwen was quite surprised when he saw her. This was the first time since his rebirth that he had encountered a famous figure. This person was none other than the renowned future wife of the JD boss from his previous life, the Tsinghua University school beauty, Sister Milk Tea.
She looked even prettier in person than in her photos, mainly because her smile was incredibly sweet.
Even though Zhou Yuwen was staring at her, she didn't shy away. She returned his gaze with a warm smile and asked, "You're Chinese, right?"
Su Qing didn't recognize the girl standing before them. Maintaining the cautiousness required when approached by strangers in a foreign land, Su Qing ignored Sister Milk Tea's question and responded coldly, "Can we help you with something?"
Zhang Tianze was somewhat taken aback by Su Qing's frosty demeanor. Her fame in China had indeed brought her numerous advantages, such as easily joining a mutual aid association for international students in America. Within just half a year, she had already become the vice president of the association, collaborating with domestic chambers of commerce and even the embassy.
For instance, if a specific conference required translators or service staff, their mutual aid association would rally personnel to assist.
It was exactly through this mutual aid association that Zhang Tianze had met Brother Dong. After getting to know each other and feeling they were a great match, they had officially started dating.
Although Su Qing hadn't answered Zhang Tianze's question, she had spoken in Chinese.
As a result, Zhang Tianze hid her astonishment well, merely offering a faint smile. "It's like this: I'm Zhang Tianze, the vice president of the International Student Management Committee here at Banard College. You look unfamiliar, so it must be your first time at our college, right? Are you here to study abroad?"
Zhang Tianze's smile was genuinely approachable, but it was completely useless against Su Qing.
Su Qing truly had zero impression of her. She simply felt that showing undue courtesy for no reason bodes ill, so she bluntly turned her head away and ignored her.
This couldn't be entirely blamed on Su Qing. If Zhang Tianze had properly introduced her background, or if they had taken the time to understand each other, Su Qing might have recalled a tiny fragment of Zhang Tianze from her previous life. She would have realized that someone of her stature wasn't a scammer and was actually worth befriending.
But looking solely at Zhang Tianze's face right now...
Su Qing just felt that this female was far too pretty, which meant danger.
Su Qing's coldness made Zhang Tianze, who had always experienced smooth sailing, feel like she had hit a brick wall. Logically, the other woman should have recognized her.
Just two months ago, news of her relationship with Brother Dong had been exposed and widely broadcast across major media outlets.
Meeting a dead end with Su Qing prompted Zhang Tianze to turn her attention to Zhou Yuwen beside her.
Zhou Yuwen, however, had recognized the girl and nodding with a smile, he asked, "Yes, is there something you need?"
Zhou Yuwen's response saved Zhang Tianze from further embarrassment. She quickly smiled and explained that since she noticed it was Zhou Yuwen and Su Qing's first time here, she wanted to show them around the campus.
"Wouldn't that be a bit too much trouble for you?" Zhou Yuwen said with a smile.
Zhang Tianze shook her head, insisting it wasn't a problem at all.
"We're all compatriots. Oh, looking closely at you, you seem quite familiar." In truth, Zhang Tianze had noticed Zhou Yuwen right from the start. She felt like she had seen him in a newspaper somewhere but just couldn't put a finger on it. Regardless, anyone who could study abroad was bound to be somewhat capable, or at least hailed from a family with solid backing.
That was the real reason Zhang Tianze had taken the initiative to make connections. Saying that line was her way of hoping Zhou Yuwen would introduce his own background.
Who could have known that Zhou Yuwen would simply smile and reply, "You look quite familiar to me too."
"Uh." At this point, Zhang Tianze couldn't tell if Zhou Yuwen actually recognized her or not, so she just laughed it off.
She openly introduced herself, "Then let me introduce myself properly. I'm Zhang Tianze from Tsinghua University. And you?"
